Nurse Educator
Location: Choma, Southern Province
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Community Based Treatment Support CBTS lead (MGIC) – SMACHT, the EHR- Nurse Educator will be responsible for the training, support and continuous mentoring of Community Based Treatment Support CBTS lead (MGIC) – SMACHT
the CBTSW.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support in the provision of quality MNC services to the nursing staff in district health facilities in Southern Province.
  • Work closely with other district health care staff to improve the provision of option B+ services.
  • Identify training needs at facility level, plan and facilitate training sessions for HCWs in PMTCT, CT, ART (adult and pediatrics), OI management.
  • Serve as link person between District and EGPAF and MGIC personnel
  • Monthly collection of data aggregation for local use
  • Supervise and offer technical support to the Clinical Care specialist (CCS) as they provide support to the community health care workers in the mobilization of communities for HIV care services.
  • Writes reports of all activities undertaken and submission to MGIC head office
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Registered or enrolled Nurse or nurse midwife
Experience in the following is essential
  • PMTCT option B+
  • Training and mentoring
  • Community Engagement and mobilization
  • Monitoring and evaluation of projects
  • Knowledge of SmartCare
Skills Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent work planning and organisational skills
Work Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in PMTCT
  • Experience as trainer (TOT, OJT and mentoring)
