Operations Manager
Financial Sector Deepening Zambia (FSDZ) is a DFID-funded project that supports both public and private sector efforts to develop an efficient and vibrant financial sector that offers a wider range of financial services to significantly more households, smallholder farmers, and micro and small enterprises. The primary objective of this position Is to support the achievement of FSDZ’s overall aim of making financial markets work for the poor, by leading efficient and compliant operations. The Operations Manager will be expected to be able to take the lead and determine what is needed for sound management of finance, human resources, procurement, fund management, compliance and administration. Crucially the Operations Manager must be qualified to provide financial oversight to FSDZ, stepping in to cover day-to-day financial operations as needed. The Operations Manager has responsibility for the wider operations team and is to be perceived as the expert, providing support, guidance, oversight and control, staff development and training, as well as approaching the management of these functions with a “buck stops’ attitude.
This is a senior level management position.
Candidates must meet these minimum requirements:
  • Appropriate qualification in finance, business management
  • Experience in leading alt aspects of operations in a similar type of donor-funded program
  • Demonstrable experience managing finance and human resources
  • Outstanding communication skills Including excellent spoken and written English
  • Familiarity with contract negotiations and experience in grants, subcontracts and compliance is a plus
  • Highly organized and efficient
