Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan operates in four provinces; Central, Luapula, Eastern and Lusaka where the Country Office (CO) is located. The main focus of Plan Zambia‘s work is in Health, Education, Economic Empowerment, Child Protection and Participation. HIV/ AIDS, gender and disability inclusion are crucial cross cutting issues in our programming. Child protection is key in all that we do.
We have the following vacancy:
Programme Coordinator – Health – Luapula (1)
Reporting to the Program Manager Health at Country Office, with a dotted line relationship to Program Unit Manager, s/he will supports the effective and efficient management of Plan’s Health portfolio in the Program Unit, in order to ensure a high level of interaction between Plan, Communities and other stakeholders in health issues in line with the Child Centered Community Development Approach.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Coordinating all Plan health operations and coordination of Primary Health Care, Water and Community Lead Sanitation in the Program Unit
- Community capacity building
- Monitoring and evaluation of Primary Health Care, Water & Sanitation programmes
- Meeting contract requirements from different donors
- Grants management reporting
- Establishing partnerships with NGO’S, government entities and various stakeholders to increase local resource mobilization and long term sustainability
Individual Specifications are:
- Degree in Health Sciences or equivalent
- 2-4 years experience in the NGO sector; working with children and communities; and managing child-related health programs and projects would be an advantage
- Experience in writing project/program proposals and grants reporting
- Expertise in Microsoft packages with writtenGood communication skills
- Excellent time management, administrative and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic self starter
- Programme Coordinator – Child Protection and Child Participation – Luapula (1)
Reporting to the Program Manager Child Protection and Participation at Country Office, with a dotted line relationship to the Programme Unit Manager, s/he will coordinate child protection activities in the Program Unit in order to ensure a high level of interaction between Plan, communities and other stakeholders in child protection issues in line with our Child Centered Community Development Approach.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
- Participating in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of child protection programs in the Program Unit
- Identifying and applying effective measures with and for communities to realize their rights and manage their own development
- Promoting advocacy and Plan’s work on child protection, child rights, child participation and gender in the community
- Identifying and applying effective measures for children to realize their rights and potential
- Identifying and drawing on other sources of expertise and support to maximize the impact of Plan’s work on child protection, child participation, child rights and gender
- Designing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child centered community development projects
- Providing technical advice, backstopping and capacity building to field staff, partners, community members, community based organizations and community volunteers in child rights, child protection, gender and community empowerment
Candidates will need to demonstrate:
- University degree in Social Sciences/Development Studies
- Three years practical experience in a similar position
- Excellent public speaking and writing skills
- High knowledge and capability in computer information programs
- Proven ability to create good working relationships with partners, donors, NGO’S, government line ministries and departments
- Excellent planning, monitoring and evaluation of rights and development programmes
- Ability to meet deadlines
Community Development Facilitator- (Eastern Programme Unit) – 1 Position
The position of Community Development Facilitator (CDF) is responsible for all sponsorship and development activities at community level and is a link between Plan Zambia and the community in areas where Plan implements its activities. The Community Development Facilitator (CDF), reports to the Community Development Coordinator in the Programme Unit
Job Responsibilities
- Participating fully in sponsorship activities at community level;
- Ensuring timely submission of all communications;
- Mobilizing communities to participate in development programs;
- Promoting community development through capacity building and efficient supervision of community projects;
- Ensuring all Plan assets at community level are properly used and maintained;
- Ensuring effective record keeping of all relevant documents/reports.
About You:
- Holder of a Diploma in Social Work or other relevant discipline.
- 2-3 years practical experience in a similar position.
- Excellent interpersonal, report writing, and facilitating skills.
- Have experience in use of participatory methodologies and working with communities and other stakeholders.
- Possess a valid motor cycle riding license.
- Willingness to live in the community is a must
