GIS Officer job in Zambia

General Responsibilities
The GIS Officer will lend primary technical support to the Akros programs to assist in the setup, implementation and maintenance of GIS-integrated databases.
Experience with DHIS2, ODK, ArcGIS, QGIS and python coding is necessary.
Experience in the design of data management systems monitoring, evaluation and reporting is critical.
In addition, the GIS Officer will assist Akros in conducting DHIS2 end-user trainings, paying particular attention to the data visualization components of this system: pivot tables, charting and GIS. This may require international travel.
Qualified candidates have at least 5 years of relevant experience and a master’s diploma in geography, geographic information systems or related field.
Specific Responsibilities
• Assist with database configuration for integrated DHIS2 instances: populate geographic units in the correct hierarchical manner, enter and clean shape files or centroids and work collaboratively with kros’ MIS Adviser for system design.
• Assist Akros personnel with DHIS2 trainings as necessary.
• Assist Akros personnel with spatial analysis and reporting of DHIS2 and a custom ODK-based platform data across all sectors.
• Develop technical reports and collaborate with international technical assistants in quantifying research questions, drafting text and providing data.
TimelineThis 12 month contract is available for immediate hire. Continuation of contract is contingent upon funding and employee performance.
