Job Title: Head – Networks
General Description of the Position
The Head – Networks is responsible for the design, installation, managing and troubleshooting network related problems.
Duties
  • Design, installation, troubleshooting and servicing of network nodes.
  • Keeping adequate documentation of all the network installations.
  • Liaising with existing and prospecting corporate customers, determining their technical requirements and preparing technical proposals.
  • Administering and Maintenance of Bandwidth Management Servers.
  • Maintaining and managing the company DNS and the country code level domain (ccTLD)
  • Regulating access to network servers, applications and other resources and ensuring that security is not compromised.
  • Assist in administering and monitoring Application Servers, Communication Servers, Access Servers, Routers, Radios and other network devices.
  • Research, evaluate, document and recommend new technologies that would improve the company network and operations.
  • Suggesting improvements and upgrades to network hardware and software
Experience/Qualifications
  • A minimum of a degree in ICT or a related field
  • A thorough knowledge of networking and communication technologies
  • Practical skills of troubleshooting IP Networks using various tools
  • A thorough understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing; including subnetting and routing
  • Ability to install and administer Microsoft applications including Active Server Directory, Exchange Server (and other eMail Solutions)
  • Good working knowledge of UNIX / LINUX / WINDOWS installations, configurations and administration, etc.
  • In depth understanding of ICT security
  • Ability to configure and administer Routers, firewall, switches and other network devices
