Legal Officer

• Providing legal services to the Bank and representing the Bank in Courts of Law and Tribunals 
• Conducting legal due  diligence on proposed contractual transactions that the Bank intends to enter into 
• Drafting and or reviewing, negotiating and finalizing all legal documentation pertaining to procurement contracts 
• Prepare procurement contracts for internal review and approval in order to ensure compliance with Bank Policies as well as applicable Laws and Regulations and to identify and mitigate any related risks.
• Maintain and update records in relation to procurement contracts and other agreements that the Bank has entered into 
• Interpret agreements and procurement contracts, advise Management on contractual rights and responsibilities in order to ensure Legal and Contractual Compliance
• Drive contract lifecycle from drafting through execution and manage the contract change process and any related correspondence requiring legal input
• Providing legal support for the implementation and monitoring of contracts
• Generally deal with day to day legal matters related to Procurement and Contracts
• Undertaking such other assignments as required in the furtherance of the Department’s mandate and performing any other duties as may be required by the Supervisor from time to time.

• Grade twelve certificate with 5 ‘O’ level including Mathematics and English
• Degree in Law from a reputable University
• Holder of a valid practicing certificate and an Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
• Member of the Law Association of Zambia
• Three (3) years post qualification experience as an Advocate preferably ¡n a public institution or a busy corporate Law Firm.
• Knowledge of Laws and Regulations that affect the operations of a Financial and Statutory Institution.
• Experience in Banking and Financial Sector  will be a definite advantage.
