WASH Surveillance Officer job in Zambia
The WASH Surveillance Officer will assist in the planning, coordination,development and oversight of assigned districts in supporting community-level surveillance. This position will liaise with stakeholders from the donor organization, key actors within provincial and central channels of MLGH, District Environmental Health Technicians (EHTs), District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), village sanitation advisory groups, community champions and Akros senior management to facilitate program objectives and optimize resource flow.
Specific Responsibilities
• Develop collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
• Coordinate WASH/CLTS trainings and supervision efforts within districts.
• Monitor WASH progress through IMS, liaise with the districts to encourage reporting, feedback and monitoring of community champions and EHTs.
• Proactively schedule meetings with the Deputy Program Manager to assess delivery status.
• Assist with indicator development, research framework and impact assessments as necessary.
• On a routine basis, assess whether project activities are sufficient to achieve proposed outcomes; develop and validate alternate strategies if not.
• Participate in WASH-related advocacy events as necessary.
• Proactively meet with key stakeholders at district and provincial level to strengthen CLTS implementation

Reporting
The Surveillance Officer will report directly to the WASH Deputy Program Manager.Monthly staff meetings and individual performance reviews will be conducted tobackstop project delivery and ensure achievement of project objectives.
Location, Term, and Travel
This position is based in Lusaka, Zambia, and will be for a period of 12 months beginning on or about July 15, 2014. Extensions may be available contingent upon performance and donor funding. This position will require roughly 75% travel within Zambia.
