About Cellulant
Cellulant is a digital payments business. We are building an ecosystem of consumers, merchants and banks in which we facilitate payments and build value through the value-added services we layer on top. In building this ecosystem we serve different types of customers with different products; including mobile banking, mobile payment and mobile credit products. We are currently serving merchants, banks and mobile network operators across 10 countries.
We are now looking to hire an experienced business development executive to drive growth of Cellulant’s digital payment business by the direct acquisition of strategic merchants and through the indirect acquisition of merchants through the following channels: acquiring banks and merchant aggregators. The role brief includes defining and driving bank acquisition tactics.
As an Acquiring Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Direct acquisition of strategic merchants and through the indirect acquisition of merchants through the following channels: acquiring banks and merchant aggregators.
- Identification of acquiring banks based on number of merchants they bring on board; schools, travel companies, real estate companies, SACCOs etc.
- Sign up a framework with a targeted acquiring bank that is both beneficial to Cellulant, the merchants and the consumers.
- Ensure that there is an execution path to capture all merchants identified by the acquiring bank.
- Prepare and present proposals to decision makers.
- Work closely with engagement lead and other members of the digital banking team to achieve departmental goals.
- Work closely with assigned corporate partnership leads to ensure contractual fulfilment with an emphasis towards maximizing cross promotional opportunities.
- Maximize category yield in all major categories through the sale of fully integrated partnerships.
- Prepare weekly sales reports.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time
You must be passionate about building and evangelising our payments solution.
You must possess a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer problems and business opportunities, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.
You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with product management counterparts to define product release requirements, and will assist with the timely deliver of product positioning, sales and marketing collateral.
You will work with colleagues to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for the payments offering, working with the wider sales team and key customers.
You will implement the organisation’s business development and sales strategy for the digital payments business opportunity.

Dedication to measuring the success of our activities based on the effectiveness of our engagement with our prospective and existing clients, reviewing plans accordingly

- Proven ability to hunt for new business, with experience of the full sales life cycle

- Experience in driving a team of salespeople, resulting in high quality deliverables and achievement of objectives as per plans

Ability to pitch to existing and potential clients and partners, and to attend and present at relevant events
