Title: Business Advisor
Reporting Unit/Supervisor: Program Manager
Location: Lusaka
Travel: International up to _0__%, Domestic up to _40__%

II. Position Description:
1. Business support and advising
- Working with implementation partners (i.e. business development services (BDS) providers, wholesalers, etc), develop and deliver strong and appropriate package of technical assistance to program participants
- Collaborate with program manager to guide design of BDS modules for implementation partners
- Develop screening processes for evaluation of program participants, BDS training capability, and for other purposes, as needed
- Directly assist implementation partners wherever possible on technical and business issues, execution of BDS modules, training, and management of program participants
- Attend meetings with Donor, as needed
2. Facilitation of linkages
- Assist program manager, as necessary, in identifying potential partners in food processing, wholesaling, distribution, rural retail, or business development services
- Collaborate with program manager in strengthening relationships with such partners over the course of the project
- Contribute input to project work plan on mechanisms to facilitate linkages and execute work plan accordingly
3. Monitoring and evaluation (M&E)
- Work independently or with TechnoServe M&E Advisor to ensure that all M&E activities are accurate, fully complete, and submitted by the Donor deadline
- Contribute to all quarterly and final M&E reports as required by the Donor in the Performance Grant Agreement
- Design templates or data collection systems/processes to collect relevant project data, such as job creation/strengthening, program participant attendance, etc.
- Track activities vs. milestones with particular regard to milestone-based invoices
- Make any necessary adjustments to assist project and implementation partners to remain on track
4. Lessons learnt analysis and sharing
a. Analyze results and create presentations and case studies to share with stakeholders via presentations at other forums/TNS events
b. Collaborate with TechnoServe Country Manager, PEPZ Program Manager, and M&E Advisor to create a final case study for client submission
c. Contribute technical input for future proposal development
5. Any other tasks within the scope of work
III. Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Administration, Economics, Marketing, International Affairs/Development, or other relevant area
- Minimum of five years relevant experience in retail, strategy consulting, business administration, finance and/or marketing in the private sector and/or with an NGO
- Preferred: Experience in business development services for private sector development
- Experience working in Zambia or other African nations
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills
- PC computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Self-starter, results-oriented, and entrepreneurial with the ability to work with substantial autonomy and influence others with minimal supervisory authority
