Information and Communication Technologies Manager
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following positions at the University of Zambia:
A. INSTITUTE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION
JOB TITLE: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES MANAGER (1 Position)
Purpose:
To plan, oversee and direct operations of the entire ICT Infrastructure and Systems of the Institute of Distance Education.
Responsibilities
i) Preparing, coordinating and participating in the preparation or review of work plans, policies, work manuals, procedures and related documentation.
ii) Planning, Designing and implementing all ICT Projects and requirements of the Institute of Distance Education.
iii) Planning all procurement of relevant hardware and software support needs for the Institute of Distance Education.
iv) Planning for Hardware and Software replacements as may be necessitated by vendor upgrades, licenses and policies.
v) Carrying out routine Workstation and Server maintenance activities to ensure stability of the network services for the delivery of student materials.
vi) Managing performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources.
vii) Monitoring the health of the IDE Network to ensure network availability to all system students and performing necessary maintenance to support network availability.
viii) Analysing user support statistics and other data and recommending appropriate measures.
ix) Planning, Installing, configuring, and supporting both internal and external ICT Networks of the Institute of Distance Education.
x) Designing, Installing, configuring, and supporting the Internet Systems of the Institute of Distance Education.
xi) Designing, Installing, Configuring and supporting an effective Telecommunications System for the Institute of Distance Education.
xii) Carrying out Network expansion activities as required from time to time in various provincial Centres of the Institute of Distance Education.
xiii) Recommending and developing relevant distance education systems that will facilitate the delivery of students’ materials through ICTs.
xiv) Designing and implementing an effective disaster recovery plan.
xv) Performing routine backups and archival of files and media stored on the network to assist with disaster recovery and re-engineering.
xvi) Maintaining security of all Materials in order to ensure integrity of materials.
xvii) Participating in the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications
i) Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent.
ii) Bachelor’s degree in an ICT related field.
iii) Certifications in A+,N+,CCNP, MCSE.
iv) At least five (5) years relevant work experience.
