Assistant Accountant – Guest Programs
(Lusaka, Zambia)
The Finance Assistant will ensure that all payments are processed in a timely manner and that all expenses related with the Guest programs are allocated correctly to various budget lines as per the WorldFish policy and procedures and recorded in the system in timely and quality manner. He/She will see to it that Guest program are processed, reviewed and liquidated in a timely manner and also Coordinate the monthly cash flow projections for submission to the Senior Accountant and Assist the Finance officer in extracting respective financial reports for internal and external use by following project accounting procedures and treatment are in compliance with financial requirements of contract, CGIAR financial guidelines and manuals, International Accounting Standard and Centre policies and guidelines
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial records, bank accounts and monthly reconciliations
- Manage account receivables and account payables
- Monitoring balance sheet accounts like staff advance, deposit account and prepayment account
- Prepare payments and post transactions in OCS
- Prepare monthly liquidity projections
- Work in collaboration with the Office Administrator to ensure procurement and settlement of all invoices are done in a timely manner.
- Filing of documents in an easy retrievable manner.
Competencies Required
- Experience in financial accounting preferably with an International Organisation
- Experience working with accounting packages
- Ability to think analytically
- Ability to prioritize work to ensure all deadlines are met
- Problem solving skills and ability to make appropriate timely decisions
Highly Desired
- High level managerial, organization and planning skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to network and maintain close communication with all staff
Education Requirements
- Part 2 ACCA/CIMA/ZICA professional or its equivalent
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
