SENIOR ECONOMIST – REVENUE FORECASTING & MONITORING

In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring the optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on the one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast changing business environment on the other, we are seeking a highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professional to fill the following vacancy in the Research and Planning Department.
SENIOR ECONOMIST – REVENUE FORECASTING & MONITORING (GRADE ZRAO4) I
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director — Research & Policy, the job holder will be involved in research data generation and collection using standard and well defined methods. The job holder will also be responsible for providing well researched and analysed information, economic and statistical data on tax matters to be used for management policy and tax administration decisions.
MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Carry out research to provide quality analysed advice in the formulation and implementation of tax administration as it relates to revenue collection, compliance and enforcement efforts
  • Analyse and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes
  • Co-ordinate research work with that of others, deal with problems which may affect the achievement of research objectives
  • Prepare and maintain macroeconomic and tax statistics data bank including data mining for the purpose of analysing revenue collection trends and fiscal as well as economic factors
  • Co-ordinate with relevant stakeholders ¡n the development of tax policy measures
  • Prepare working papers and reports on various assignments commissioned by Management aimed at improving operational and service delivery
  • Provide assistance to other divisions on matters related to corporate activities where research input is required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate or General Certificate of Education (GCE)equivalent
  • Minimum of University Degree in Economics / Public Finance with a bias towards macroeconomics and quantitative analysis.
  • Masters Degree in Economics / Public Finance will be an added advantage.
  • Five (5) years relevant work experience in a public policy related work environment.
